Connecting Research and Practice: A Snapshot of Resources for English Language Learners Forum - March 5, 2008
Students who are English language learners are one of our nation's fastest growing school populations. There is great concern among policymakers and educators that these students are significantly lagging behind others in terms of academic success. This session highlighted several new research-based resources, the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Practice Guide series and the Doing What Works website, that offer policymakers and practitioners guidance on how to more effectively educate these students. Participants heard leading researchers, policy experts, and experienced practitioners review and discuss these resources and strategies to address this pressing issue. Participants left with a strong understanding of the latest research and gained concrete strategies and resources to advance learning opportunities and shape action on behalf of English language learners.
The Research Link brief highlights the IES Practice Guide series and the SEE Forum series.
